The IFS organizes conferences with the aim to foster stimulating discussions and facilitate the exchange of cutting-edge research across all areas of international finance. By bringing together leading researchers, policymakers, and market participants, we strive to create a collaborative and engaging atmosphere. The conferences serve as a platform for the presentation of new and innovative research in all areas of international finance, with particular focus on work not previously presented at major conferences like the AFA, EFA, or WFA. This focus on fresh perspectives is designed to inspire dynamic discussions and promote active engagement among attendees.
The IFS places a particular emphasize on work by early-career researchers, recognizing the valuable insights and contributions young scholars bring to the field. The intimate size of the conferences allow in-depth discussions and meaningful interactions, providing unique opportunities for networking and collaboration. Presentations of work in progress are especially encouraged, as they often lead to more engaging and productive conversations.

The frog footprints in the IFS logo are a visual nod to the famous frog symbol of the University of Salamanca, whose scholars are often credited with early ideas related to purchasing power parity (PPP) in the 16th century. By referencing Salamanca, the logo pays tribute to a historic source of insight in international finance while highlighting PPP as a central concept in the field. The footprints also suggest movement and connection across borders, reflecting the Society’s mission to bring together researchers from around the world to study global financial markets.
